[Maine-birds] Schoodic Point SeaWatch

Joined at Schoodic Point for 3 hour sea watch stint this morning  by Rich MacDonald of The Natural History Center in Bar Harbor.
Fair movement of birds for light easterly winds. Mostly cloudy with some sun made for terrific lighting and observation conditions.

Common Loon 32
Black Scoter 60
White-winged Scoter 14   (one immature bird was in near shore waters with eider)
Scoter sp.   8

Red-necked Grebe   1   (4 others were in near shore group near eiders)
Northern Gannets  4   (counted as migrants today) Some 15-25 additional birds were milling back and forth throughout the count period.

Double-crested Co. 11
Unidentified seabirds  28

Tomorrow, 7 - 9 AM:  Rich MacDonald will be doing a sea watch at Otter Cliff on MDI along ANP auto loop. He'll be stationed on the walking path below the retaining wall.
A concurrent effort will be at Schoodic Point.  We will have radio contact for experiment sake.  We encourage others to join us or do a sea watch count at your favorite spot!
