[Maine-birds] Pittston Farm

I just finished another delightful 3-day tour of the Historic Pittston Farm environs above Moosehead Lake. Pluses: record numbers of mourning warblers and olive-sided flycatchers. Dipped on Tennessee warbler, but all others provided exceptional views…including one Canada warbler who will go down in history as the best performer ever. Thank you for perching up in sunlight and singing for 10 minutes. Evening Grosbeaks, thank you for coming in for morning and evening visits. Saw-whet owls, thank you for the awesome performance last night. Both of you.

Minuses: Plum Creek, why did you haul out wood during mud season, ruining your own roads? Even the locals are perplexed. Just saying.

Thanks: North Maine Woods Association – your checkpoint tenders are wonderful people and you can have my $7/pp/pd anytime you want. It’s way better than the same amount I pay for a movie.
