I took a boat ride during my lunch break today and found several hundred gulls feeding on krill in the upwellings of the Old Sow whirlpool, which is located between Eastport, Maine and Deer Island, New Brunswick. The flocks were dominated by Bonaparte's gulls with a smattering of black-legged kittiwakes, ring-billed gulls, herring gulls and great black-backs.  Two first winter Iceland (Kumlien's) gulls were easy to spot and an adult little gull made a brief appearance. Freezing rain and choppy seas didn't allow for great photo opportunities. I posted a few shots here:
