[Maine-birds] Greater Bangor, 3/7 - SNOW, PEFA, NSWO, etc

Hey everyone:

I had a great time leading a trip out of the Fields Pond Audubon Center to cover the 'Greater Bangor Area' today. The bright and sunny day was a nice reminder that spring is on its way, plus a few standout birds made for an all around good day. Many thanks to everyone who came along and it was especially fun to bird with some of central Maine's best - Bruce, Don, Kyle, John, and Jerry; always a pleasure.

Here are a few of the highlights:

Snowy Owl - an apparent immature male continued this morning at the Hampden Industrial Park, located off Route 202.

Bald Eagle - behavioral highlight: pair at nest and carrying new material in Veazie.

Peregrine Falcon - one of the residents put on a nice show over the Penobscot River, viewed from Front Street in Bangor.

Northern Saw-whet Owl - great spotting by Bruce along Route 2, just past State Hospital Drive. https://flic.kr/p/qz5J9A

Bohemian Waxwings - while they are starting to fill in southern Maine, they were abundant around Bangor and we saw hundreds, mostly incidents as we drove around.

Good birding,
