May 15, there were two male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks using the feeder here in Roque Bluffs. They both had partly brown primary and secondary feathers (I'm looking at the diagram in Sibley for feather placement names, hope I got it right). It's not an extreme color difference, but noticeable. Is this a stage in their development, or an anomaly?
-- Photo is not great but shows the feathers.
