Hi all,
Another three days on the island, this time with my annual store weekend, turned out a couple of the slowest days I have ever spent out there in the fall. Friday morning was excellent, but most birds apparently continued on to the mainland.
No real rarities, other than the oddly-apparently-full-breeding-plumaged male Baltimore Oriole today.
Other highlights:
- 1 Clay-colored Sparrow daily.
- 2 Dickcissels daily
- lots of Cory's Shearwaters
- several Cape May Warblers
The lack of strong cold fronts continues to produce low concentrations of migrants and occurrence of rarities along the coast (reflected by reports at least as far south as Cape May, NJ).
