Hi Maine-birds:
With the lack of reports here I wanted to share an update from reports I've gleaned from eBird and Facebook. It appears the Swainson's Hawk has not been seen since Tuesday (4 October) in the morning. There were reports that it was present around 8:30AM but was not being seen in the afternoon (by 1:50PM).
A post on the MAINE Birds Facebook group today from Rhonda Little-Aifd read:
"I have been to the airport 3 times today in Millinocket. No sightings of the Swainson's Hawk. Lots of activity on the runway with remote control planes so it may have relocated to the back of one of the runways or has finally decided to leave. There will be lots of planes arriving, flying, and leaving over the weekend as they are having a "Fly In".. so maybe it was best if it has left the area. I will check again later."
I'll post any positive updates I receive.
Good birding,
