To be fair to the authors of the exceptional book, it was Warblers by Jon Dunn and Kimball Garrett in the Peterson Field Guide Series that had the relevant and extensive info on the variation of the hybrid pair.

Update: thanks to Derek Lovitch emailing the relevant page from Peterson's, I can add that the bird looked like a Brewster's, but with much more extensive yellow on its underparts. So probably a Brewster's variant.Also, Marie Jordan tells me she saw it in the same place, at Donna Cundy's feeders across from the Trailing Yew, at 4 pm.Kristen---------- Forwarded message ---------

The fun continues: Bryan Pfeiffer and I had an interesting Blue-winged Warbler out here on Monhegan this afternoon. The bird had yellow face and breast, white undertail coverts, distinct darker gold cap, wide blurry gold wing bar, black eye line. Perhaps a Golden-winged grandparent?
