[Maine-birds] Scarborough: Yellow-crowned Night Heron YES

The YCNH reported earlier today at the Scarborough River Wildlife Sanctuary was still in the vicinity of the second pond today at 3:45.   At that time it was perched in a tree along the path before the second pond, acting very observant and wary.   Thanks to the birder who was there and had relocated it.  There were also some warblers in the crabapple trees that made it worth staying in the rain for a bit, 1 Wilson's and 2 Nashville among others, as well as 3 Baltimore Orioles near the ponds.   Complete list with a couple of photos of the Night Heron: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S45839060 .

Also offshore at the SMCC campus earlier this afternoon was a late RED-NECKED GREBE fairly close to the shore... and a bit of drama as the Osprey pair hovered threateningly above a passing Bald Eagle until it left the vicinity.  Complete list: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S45829521 .

On a side note, has anyone else in southern Maine noticed a decline in Hermit Thrushes this spring?   I have yet to hear one singing this year, even in damp wooded areas like the Scarborough Sanctuary (on a drizzly day, no less).
