Re: [Maine-birds] Query about Purple Martin colony on Mousam estuary

It's behind a house on Atlantic Circle off of (and near the end of) Great Hill Rd.  You should be able to see it from Atlantic Circle (which is a little dirt road) if you drive or walk down it.   We (York County Audubon) set up the gourds last year in an attempt to expand the existing Great Hill Rd colony.  No luck yet, but we're hoping it works.   Bill Grabin, Kennebunk

I'm headed for parts south and among other things will be checking again for the PUMA colony.
Tried last week and saw a group of martin gourds about halfway down from Route 9 along the Abandoned Rail Trail and was momentarily duped by a single plastic bird. No live birds.

Where is the colony people are referring to?

I see markers along Atlantic Circle. Are people looking out over the marsh from there or is there something directly behind homes?

Pretty please?
