[Maine-birds] Biddeford Pool migrants

This morning I birded Biddeford Pool pond, focusing on migrant landbirds and found a good feeding flock of American Redstart (8), Common Yellowthroat (6) Yellow Warbler (4), Wilson's Warbler (3), Northern Waterthrush (3), Black-throated Green Warbler (2), Red-breasted Nuthatch (3), Magnolia Warbler (2) Red-eyed Vireo (3) Least Flycatcher (1), Swainson's Thrush and Warbling Vireo (1). A single Laughing Gull circled the pond and a Black-crowned Night-Heron flew in and roosted in the trees around the pond.

Some other highlights from around the area this week include 3 Common Nighthawks migrating over the Biddeford UNE campus during the day, briefly joining the thousands of Tree Swallows foraging over the Saco river. A juvenile Forster's Tern was seen at Scarbourough Marsh and 2 Philadelphia Vireo's and several Blackpoll Warblers and a Alder Flycatcher were added to my yard list this week.

Judging from the calls of night migrants I'm hearing out my window, looks like tomorrow will be good for landbird migrants as well.

Good Birding
