York County

On the 4th, a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was found at the Biddeford Pool Land Trust.

A BLUE GROSBEAK was the highlight from a check of thickets around Cape Neddick on the 5th. A young GLAUCOUS GULL was also seen from the parking lot of Nubble Lighthouse.

Greater Portland

An immature BLACK SKIMMER and HUDSONIAN GODWIT continue to be seen along Jones Creek from the Pine Point Lobster Co-op. An adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was also seen here on the 3rd.

On the 3rd, two 'interior' NELSON'S SPARROWS were seen from the Eastern Trail through the Scarborough Marsh.

A juvenile WESTERN KINGBIRD and a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW were photographed on Cliff Island on the 1st.

Kettle Cove in Cape Elizabeth held an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER and a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT on the morning of the 7th.

Midcoast

An EARED GREBE, found September 16, continues in Middle Bay, best observed from Simpson Point south of Brunswick. Distance from birds can make viewing very difficult at this site; high tide typically brings birds in closer but a scope may be necessary.

Green Point WMA in Dresden hosted a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW on the 4th, two CASPIAN TERNS on the 5th, and a BELL's VIREO on the 7th.

A CONNECTICUT WARBLER and DICKCISSEL were found along Bayshore Road in Bath on the 6th.

Highlights from Monhegan Island this week included: two BLUE GROSBEAKS on the 2nd, an unusual flock of 50+ GREAT BLUE HERONS on the 4th, a RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD and a BELL'S VIREO on the 5th and 6th, a very late ORCHARD ORIOLE on the 5th, a SUMMER TANAGER and RED-HEADED WOODPECKER on the 6th, and a LE CONTE'S SPARROW, EURASIAN WIGEON, and WESTERN KINGBIRD on the 7th.

Central Maine

A pair of SANDHILL CRANES has been seen in the fields along route 100 near Freshening Farm in Pittsfield throughout the week.

Western Mountains

Three SANDHILL CRANES continued in the fields along Harbor Road in Fryeburd on the 4th.

Northern Maine

Three GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, two adults and a juvenile, were found at Collins Pond in Caribou on the 2nd.
