[Maine-birds] Clay-colored Sparrow Biddeford Pool, Lesser Black-Backed Gull Fortunes Rocks Beach

I went to the coast today to check and see what was moving on the strong Northeast winds today, and was pleasantly surprised to see an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull hanging with the rest of the gulls at Fortune's Rock Beach. Small numbers of ducks were moving south, mainly Long-tailed Ducks, Red-breasted Mergansers, all three scoters (lesser numbers of Black, mainly Surf and White-winged), and Common Eiders. A few common loons moving south, and 7 Red-throated Loons, all heading North, for some reason. A large alcid passed by, too far out to ID, and several Black Guillemont were taking shelter in the bays around East Point Sanctuary, as were good numbers of Scoters, Red-breasted Mergansers, Eiders and Long-tailed Ducks (big up-tick from the past week). Gannets were also winging south in decent numbers, and a good flock feeding off shore contained about 20 or so Greater Shearwaters, but they stay far out to sea and a scope was needed to even see them. Great Cormorant numbers are also up, with at least 7 seen on the island southeast of  Biddeford Pool point. Checked the Bonapartes Gulls on Biddeford pool Beach, but nothing unusual amongst them. Scanned the shorebirds on Biddeford Pool without turning up anything unusual, though they were mostly too far out to even scope well.

The only landbirds of interest was a lone Clay-colored Sparrow on Yates St, Biddeford Pool and an Ipswich Savannah Sparrow on Biddeford Pool Beach.
