Hi all,
My sightings of note from the past seven days, not previously reported here, include:
- 2 continuing adult BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS, Freeport Yacht Club, 2/2 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk group).
- 1 HOARY REDPOLL (or perhaps I should says a bird that perfectly fits our current definition of what constitutes a Hoary Redpoll?), private feeder in Bowdoinham, 2/4. Bird arrived on 1/30 with a flock of 75-100 Commons. Photos here:
- 1 1st-winter Glaucous Gull and 1 2nd-winter Iceland Gull, Hatch Hill Landfill, Augusta, 2/5 (with Pat Moynahan, Joanne Stevens, and Jeannette).
- 4 drake and 2 hen CANVASBACKS continue in the Presumpscot River as viewed from the Route 9 bridge in Falmouth, through 2/7.
- 1 drake CANVASBACK, continues in the Presumpscot River in downtown Westbrook, through 2/7.
- 3rd-winter glaucoides-like Iceland Gull continues at Riverbank Park, Westbrook, through 2/7.
- 14 1st-winter and 1 3rd-winted Iceland Gulls, Portland Harbor, 2/7.
- 1 pair of Barrow's Goldeneyes continue in the Harraseeket River, seen regularly between Winslow Park and the Freeport Town Wharf.
