Re: [Maine-birds] Another hardy bird species

In Sidney about two dozen redpolls have been clinging off and on to the niger feeder through the wind. Our usual troupe of chickadees has not been deterred either. A raven just coasted by too.

Here in Harmony where the wind hasn't stopped since about 3:00 a.m., the chickadees are as active as ever. They have been joined by a small (8-10) flock of C. Redpolls, as well. Haven't seen our m. cardinal today.

Here on Pertville Rd, Sedgwick, as dusk came on last evening, there were 12 American Tree Sparrows feeding on the millet spread out on a patch of bare ground for them.  A few minutes ago there were 11 ATSP feeding in spite of blizzard conditions here in the middle of the blueberry barrens.  There are some bare areas of ground and some drifts of 8+ snow drifts here due to the continuous winds of 40 mph with gusts approximate 60+mph.
