I'm back in So. FL until early May. I just wanted to add to Ron Romano's post that Purple Swamphens are ABA-countable as of yesterday, and they are common close to where I live (Tamarac). Anyone visiting who wants to see some, I'm happy to show you or give directions. I might also be able to help with driving strategies in Miami-Dade County, south of here, which has good birding but terrible traffic.

Immediately after, we heard the call. looked in the direction and saw it was these 2 guys with an i-pod recording! I walked over to them and they said they would stop playing the recording, but were just trying to entice the bird out of the thicket. we heard it calling and soon after the La Sagra's appeared briefly but in plain view for a good look! It was my one life bird on this trip and all because i was wearing my (now forever lucky) Portland T-shirt....To the family of 3 who approached me on the boardwalk at Green Cay (if you are reading this)...thank you and sorry we never got to formal introductions.
