Weather:
It was on the cool side today with temperatures taking their time to reach
the mid-50s. The wind was light, switching around between north and west,
with fits of indecision where the other points of the compass were thrown
in for variety. A few puffs of cumulus in the morning multiplied to fill
the sky in the afternoon.
Raptor Observations:
A handful of migrant raptors picked their way across the sky before it
clouded over.
Non-raptor Observations:
Two more first-of-year species for the hawkwatch were observed today, a
Great Crested Flycatcher declaring its way through the trees below the
summit, and some Cliff Swallows darting to the north over the mountian.
Non-raptor Migrants:
Double-crested Cormorant- 4 Chimney Swift- 11
Tree Swallow- 10 Barn Swallow- 3 Cliff Swallow- 3
swallow sp.- 5 finch sp.- 2
Predictions:
Tomorrow will be a little warmer, with temperatures rising to around 60F.
The wind will begin the day out of the west, then swing to the south and
increase from 5-15mph as the day goes on. Clouds will build through the
afternoon, with a chance of rain showers towards the end of the count.
Hopefully there will be a push of migrants out ahead of the front.
Come join us for the final day of the count!
