My husband and I observed the MEW GULL reported by Don Reimer this morning in the athletic field of Oceanside HS in Thomaston from 9:40 - 10:05 am. The bird--which was hanging out with about 60 Ring-bills--was preening in place the whole time at a short distance, facing us, so we didn't get any real looks at the wings. The flock then flew to the HS roof and my husband was able to follow it in flight for a while due to the obvious molt in its wings compared to the surrounding Ring-bills, before losing it in the crowd.
