Hi all,
-- On my way home from UNE today I decided to make a quick stop on Hill's Beach Rd (ok, so not really on my way, but whatever) and found an interesting "Solitary" Vireo near the end of the road, along the dirt Goldthwaite Ln. It was quite pale above, with a pale grayish head barely darker than the greenish back and seemed less contrasty in the face than typical Blue-headed... No pictures, of course. I guess the likelihood is that it's just a very pale Blue-headed, but it's got me curious.
In less dubious news, at least 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls were found (an adult, a 2nd winter and a 3rd winter). A quick check of the point off Biddeford Pool revealed that Northern Gannets were moving in force today, I counted at least 700 in one scan of the horizon (most were waaaayyy out, though a few came by rather close). I also had my FOS Red-throated Loon, heading south with the gannets.
Good birding
