[Maine-birds] Cattle Egret - Poland, 11/16

Hey everyone:

Just wanted to forward a report of a CATTLE EGRET that was seen yesterday in West Poland. It was being seen from Johnson Hill Road, "a few places up from Megquire Hill Market". A pair of SANDHILL CRANES has also been seen in this area recently.

I also wanted to make an appeal to birders to enter any Snowy Owl sightings into eBird. We are pretty clearly experiencing an echo flight this year and it would be great to capture it in a secure database that can be compared to past datasets. So far, Maine has had at least 12 different Snowy Owls reported (that I've heard of and listed below) and only five have been entered. This isn't a great start. I'm more than happy to coach anyone on how to use eBird, please contact me directly.

20 Oct - Metinic Island, Knox Co.
30 Oct - Monhegan Island, Lincoln Co.
30 Oct - Frenchville, Aroostook Co.
5,11 Nov - Union, Knox Co.
7 Nov - Eliot, York Co.
9,11 Nov - Cadillac Mountain, Hancock Co.
10 Nov - Augusta, Kennebec Co.
13 Nov - Swan Lake Dam, Waldo Co.
15 Nov - Mount Agamenticus, York Co.
15-16 Nov - Biddeford Pool, York Co.
16 Nov - Caribou, Aroostook Co.
16 Nov - Westbrook, Cumberland Co.

Good birding!
