A passing Red-breasted Merganser registered as the 20,000th bird of our 2016 southbound, near-shore waterbird migration count today.
The peak is yet to come! We've been counting most every day for 5 hours since Aug. 28th.
We count from 6:30 to 9:30 AM and again from 3:30-5:30 in the afternoon. (Timeframes derived from previous years experiences).
Last year's total of 53,000 (combining two sites) is bound to be eclipsed.
If you are in this neck of the state swing on by…..bring your scope!
