[Maine-birds] Sabattus Pond, 12/5 (16sp waterfowl inc LTDU and GADW)

Hi all,

Before the snow began to fly this morning, Jeannette and I birded Sabattus Pond. Given the late date and a thin layer of ice over about half the pond, duck diversity was excellent.

198 Mallards
195 Canada Geese
88 American Black Ducks
73 Ruddy Ducks
59 Common Mergansers
37 Common Goldeneyes
22 Unidentified scaup
21 Green-winged Teal
17 Hooded Mergansers
11 Buffleheads
9 Greater Scaup
7 Mallard x American Black Duck hybrids.
5 Lesser Scaup
3 GADWALLS (1 male, 2 female)
2 Northern Pintails (pair)
1 drake American Wigeon
1 female Ring-necked Duck
1 female LONG-TAILED DUCK
