[Maine-birds] Red Phalaropes and other stuff: birding in Harrington

As the low tide was turning I saw 5 Red Phalaropes (3 juveniles and 2 winter adults) in the Mill River close to its mouth into Flat Bay. I also saw a Dunlin in the northern reaches of Flat Bay. Merle and I are participating in ISS efforts and that gets us into places we normally don't have access to!  Still 1,700 to 1,800 small shorebirds (Least, Semipalmated pipers and plovers), 200 Black-bellied Plover and dozens of Lesser Yellowlegs with a fewer number of Greater Yellowlegs in Flat Bay at low tide.

Mixed flocks of warblers have been keeping us busy for the past week. Lots of immature and juvenile Magnolias, Black-and-Whites, Blackburnians, Northern Parulas, Black-throated Greens, Ovenbirds, American Redstarts, Yellow-rumps and delightful non-resident Yellow, Wilson and Cape May.
