Phippsburg Maine Map 6 Totman Cove
Pine siskins persist, down a little but still crazy, 75-100 birds. Watched them in the top of the spruces pulling seeds from cones, a more natural behavior than feeder attacks. Have looked for other birds with them like a redpoll, but no. Or a crossbill, but no.
RB nuts fighting for seed
BC chicks
DE juncos
Blue jays
the only other birds in numbers that seem to be able to compete are the Mourning Doves, numbers climbing, 15
And, of note: one lone Chipping Sparrow in the flock of siskins
Am Goldfinches 12 or so
Not fighting at the feeders but enjoying a romp in the asters, presumably for insects Palm warbler, 1
Hermit Thrush 1 sadly a nighttime window strike
Non avian:
Sulphur butterfly not sure which one, but unusual to see it now
Red Admiral butterflies 2
Painted Lady butterfly 1 all raggedy and late to see them. No Monarchs for three days now
Harbor Seal fishing with DC corms
AND in case you thought it was beginning to get cold enough to let down your gaurd - NOT! Just took a Deer tick off my back. All I did for in the bushes stuff today was fill my feeders and dump the compost today.
