[Maine-birds] Black-backed Woodpecker, SW Harbor today

Here on Mt. Desert Island I located a Black-backed Woodpecker late this afternoon while taking a walk. On the Seal Cove Rd. not far past the gate where the road enters the Park and is closed for the season. Blind luck, but when I stopped to check on something I was able to hear the hammering of a woodpecker instead of the crunching of snow underfoot.

Nice way to end the day.
