York County

Six AMERICAN PIPITS were found on Seapoint Beach in Kittery on the 29th.

Continuing from January 13th, a SNOWY OWL can be seen on Strawberry Island, visible from the rock ledges off Great Hill Road in Kennebunk. The bird has been seen less frequently lately.

The Saco River, viewed from Water Street in Saco, continues to host a BARROW'S GOLDENEYE daily.

On the 2nd, several continuing birds at the Saco Yacht Club, located at the end of Front Street, included: a PALM WARBLER, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, and a GLAUCOUS GULL.

Greater Portland

A drake CANVASBACK was found in the Presumpscot River near the falls in Westbrook on the 29th and again on the 3rd. A NORTHERN SHOVELER was found down river from here, at the Riverbank Park, on the 2nd.

Up to six CANVASBACKS continue to be seen in the Presumpscot River at the Route 9 bridge.

Uncommon at this time of year, a NORTHERN FLICKER and a continuing FOX SPARROW were seen at feeders in Portland on the 3rd.

Kennebec River Valley (Augusta-Waterville)

A GOLDEN EAGLE continues to be seen around The Flood Brothers Farm in Clinton. The bird is often seen from Wyman Road or near the farm along River Road.

A possible SNOWY OWL was reported from Manchester, along Route 17, on the 28th.

Midcoast

A PAINTED BUNTING continued to visit private feeders in Boothbay throughout the week.

Penobscot Bay

First found on January 31st, a ROSS'S GOOSE has been present at the Samoset Gold Course in Rockland. It is often seen with a flock of CANDADA GEESE near the breakwater. A THICK-BILLED MURRE was also reported here on the 29th.

A drake BARROW'S GOLDENEYES was reported in Belfast Bay on the 28th.

Downeast

Continuing from January 26th, a RUSTY BLACKBIRD has been visiting feeders off Gilbert Farm Road in Bar Harbor.

An adult RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen again on the 1st at private feeders in Bar Harbor.

A pelagic trip out of Northeast Harbor going to Mount Desert Rock on the 29th was highlighted by: THICK-BILLED MURRES, two ATLANTIC PUFFINS and a PEREGRINE FALCON.

A HOARY REDPOLL was photographed visiting feeders in Eastport on the 3rd.

Northern Maine

A NORTHERN HAWK OWL continued this week in Houlton. The bird has been seen a short distance down Access Road near York's car dealership.
