[Maine-birds] TWO Golden Eagles in Clinton today, 5 Feb

Given Derek Lovitch et al. saw the immature Golden Eagle this morning,
the adult I found this afternoon in the same area means we had TWO
Golden Eagles here today. The adult was west of Tardiff Road and north
of River Road in the same spot that I saw the immature Golden Eagle
last Saturday and in the vicinity of where Derek, Joanne, and Pat saw
it soaring this morning. The adult was last seen flying NNW, a
direction that would take it over the Peavey Road and north, where
some fields associated with the Caverly farm might be visited by such
a bird. Margaret Viens, Don Mairs, and I all felt the total number of
birds in the area today was way down. Maybe two Golden Eagles will do
that!

I posted a couple of distant (=heavily cropped) photos of the adult
starting here (click "older" or right arrow key to go back for
another):

Don Reimer reports that two Golden Eagles occurred in Warren in early
2004, the time that area was so good for Bald Eagles. Both of those
birds were immatures and one was seen only one day.
