[Maine-birds] Re: MEW GULL at Thomaston, 3 Aug

The Mew Gull was still on the roof at Oceanside High School at 10:30, when it flew off alone to the SW. Don Mairs, Juanita Roushdy, and I searched the grassy areas of the old prison on the south side of Rt 1 (behind prison store, accessed off Rt 1), but only a few Ring-bills were there. This is one potential site to look.

We did relocate the Mew Gull, but at a strictly restricted location where we were told no observation with optics or cameras or eyes (!) is allowed. So, we had to leave knowing where it spends time but where we shouldn't even tempt fate for others. I suspect this bird will return to the morning location, which is anywhere from the parking lot behind Thomaston Grocery and Highland Cafe, on the American Legion rooftop there, or the lawns and roofs of Lura Libby School and Oceanside H.S.
