[Maine-birds] Along the Southern Maine highway

Returning from COA's annual conference in CT today, I stopped briefly at Biddeford Pool. A SNOW behind Hattie's Deli and a second at East Point Sanctuary. The Hattie's bird had a blood stained left foot - either the owl's blood or that of a sizeable prey item. Like several SNOWS I have observed this winter doing so, this owl was heartily eating snow for over 5 minutes. These snow-gobbling observations are a by-product of seeing so many of these critters this year and perhaps becoming more familiar with their particular life habits. Anyone else witnessed this behavior? Also a Great Egret snuggled in a main roadway pine tree halfway between OOB and Pine Point.
