[Maine-birds] Northern Maine Birds: Evening Grosbeaks, Bohemian Waxwings and Snowy Owls

More Evening Grosbeak reports started coming in in the past week with flocks reported in Ashland, Portage Lake and Washburn.  This AM it was my turn when four appeared in my yard in Woodland just after sunup.  -16F....

Late yesterday afternoon, a flock of 105 Bohemian Waxwings were finishing off the shriveled fruit on some ornamentals next to the Shop-n-Save in Caribou.

I know everyone has probably had their fill of Snowy Owls for a while, but I still can't help but comment as we seem to be reaching peak abundance up here...  I spotted a personal record of four owls on the way to work on Monday AM (all in Presque Isle) and at least four others were seen by others that same day in other parts of the area.  A new Snowy was reported on the Green Ridge Road in Fort Fairfield.

Purple Finches seem to be appearing at more feeders daily.

Good Birding.
