[Maine-birds] FW: Ornithology credit course at Shoals this May!

Hi Maine birders,

Below is some information about programs on Isles of Shoals presented by the Shoals Marine Laboratory that I thought some of you might be interested in.

In addition to the Field Ornithology course, they also invite groups of 12 to come out for day or overnight trips.  See the second email below.

Hello Shoals' friends!

We have only a month left to recruit for Field Ornithology, our exciting island based credit course instructed by Dr. David Bonter from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology!  Please let us know soon if you have any creative ideas about sharing this amazing educational opportunity which occurs during spring migration on Appledore Island!

Thank you for your ideas and time!

As to User Groups, the rates Carol pointed out are correct ($100 for day-trippers including lunch; otherwise $80 for day-tripper groups bringing own bagged lunches).

One quick point about overnight User Groups (yes, the participant fee is $177 per night, all inclusive, PLUS the $66 round trip boat transportation fee and fees for any extra services, e.g special boat trips, special social hour/receptions).

We have a fairly open period available between June 9 and June 23 for overnight groups this Summer (however the bird banding station would be closed for the spring at this point.)

However, If you’re interested in a visit from mid-May through early June, when, in fact, the bird banding station would be open, we can chat about your interests and SML’s date(s) availability.

Here are links to our User/Visiting Groups information:

Thank you both!
