A few of us "Flash Birded" Higgins Mt, a Kennebec Estuary Land Trust property, yesterday morning. The highlight was a singing Balt Oriole, but there were very few migrants, despite high expectations.
The view from the top is expansive, and fairly recent fires have reduced the vegetation such that it's a reasonable place to watch migrating (and local) raptors from the exposed ledge. In an hour (11-12) we had multiple Broadies, TVs, RT Hawks and Bald Eagles, and solo Kestrel and Merlin.
