For the past 10 days or so, there's been a male indigo bunting perch singing atop Mount Agamenticus in York.
-- From the summit parking lot, head northwest to the 2-story observation deck. You can usually hear/see him from there. Nice transitional plumage still.
Also atop Mt A. is a prairie warbler with a very distinct song (not buzzy or ascending). He's usually near the hemlocks & rocks 100 yds E/NE of the observation deck.
In terms of ecological context, the summit of Mt A was heavily logged 3 winters ago, creating brushy, early successional habitat - thus welcoming back such birds as the indigo bunting, prairier warbler, and many more.
