[Maine-birds] New Gloucester one mo' time.

Birded the St Lawrence and Atlantic RR line again this morning, with a focus on the large marsh. A concerted search for the singing Blue-winged Warbler, failed to relocate.

The light rain to start had no effect on bird activity/singing at a little after 6 A.M. A Mourning Warbler seemed to sing in response to a very loud No Waterthrush nearby, right at the start of tracks (small swamp w/ the Am Bittern.). A total of 16 warblers this morning. A Prairie Warbler is singing in all the posts that held the Blue-winged and I'm wondering if 1 sp can displace another?

Sounds from the large marsh started late. At 8:20, a Sora volunteered a call that seemingly elicited responses from Va Rails and one unindent call similar to, but different from Va Rail's "3 Stooges" call. I can't be sure what it was.

one pair of nesting (?) ducks in the big marsh includes a mallard-black hyb drake with a mallard hen. Also BBCuckoo, Indigo Bunting, all the flies and almost all the swallows. Lastly, a Purple Martin (drake) may be a scout, although this habitat surrounded by old established farms makes me wonder whether there might be a colony nearby nobody knows about.?? Anyway, this bird felt very overdue.

I scattered when it began to rain harder and steadier. The temp fell rom 58F to 49F while I was there.
