Yesterday saw a single sandhill feeding in a cornfield near the corner of Scribner Hill Road and Route 135 in Readfield.
This is quite close to my house and I am by that site frequently, but this is the first time I’ve seen a sandhill there.
Three hours later the sandhill was gone and two hen turkeys were foraging in the same spot, with two toms strutting nearby. (This is much more normal.)
