Hi all,
This below is from Liam Waters regarding the Gyrfalcon, etc, yesterday. As for today, I have not received any positive reports (or positive or negative about the Surfbird), but yesterday, Lois Gerke reports having observed the Gyr in the area until dusk.

After seeing the Surfbird (http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S22508169), and the Shapleigh Red Crossbills (http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S22508335), we decided to try for the Gyrfalcon, not quite realizing that it hadn't been reported in almost two months. Tim Factor got us on the bird mere moments after getting out of the car. We were treated to an amazing show with the bird in view almost the entire time! *****One interesting thing to note is a local (I think he might work there) came over and said that he has been watching the Gyr for over a month. He said that it will be around for a week or so before taking off for ~4 days and then returns. I did not catch where in this cycle he thinks it currently is. More details in the list: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S22508453 I will upload more photos from the day tomorrow to

Happy birding,
Liam Waters,
