[Maine-birds] crossbills in Phippsburg

Phippsburg, Me map 6 Hidden Ledges Lane
Red crossbills, # 18, both genders and juves very busy in spruce tops filching seeds from cones. Very vocal and gregarious. Got piles of photos! And, while doing so, a Yellow-rumped warbler male in full breeding regalia sat on a branch in the same frame as a Crossbill! Got great pics of that, too, and what are the odds?
the Red crossbills are a lifer for me. This was fab, especially because I was feeling very pouty from lack of birds of late. I had gone after Weeding For Dollars to see if I could find a Night heron or something in my usual spot for that. I was covered with Black fly bites and bleeding from spots all over the place and had picked off ticks, too. Oh, did I mention that it was 77 here too? Ya. So I was feeling really sorry for myself. But, TADA! The birding god smiled down upon my wretched self and gave me reason to live in the form of a lifer AND great pics. Ain't life grand? RRR
