[Maine-birds] Fwd: eBird Report - Monhegan Island, May 27, 2012

List below only includes new species seen/heard since yesterday. Another rather lazy day of birding, but island is much quieter than yesterday. Many warblers seem to have fled last night. However, my husband and I had luck with flycatchers, seeing/hearing an empid bonanza: Least, Alder, Willow, Yellow-bellied, among others.

We also had a flyover flock of crossbills that I wanted to call Red, but I'm not confident enough with their flight calls to be 100% sure, and they were too high to see.

Notable species seen today, but not by us, include:
Summer tanager-1 male, 1 female (Bob Dawson)
Black-billed cuckoo-1
Orchard oriole-1 (Eric Hynes)
Olive-sided flycatcher
