I birded the trails and marshy pond area this early morning. A
black-billed cuckoo feeding in the apple trees behind the farm house.
The usual suspects around the pond : marsh wren, yellow warbler and
common yellowthroat, a CAGO family, 3 singing soras and a vocalizing
pied-billed grebe - possibly an interactive pair. Not as many
bobolinks as usual; perhaps it's still a bit early for peak numbers.
From roadway at Weskeag this afternoon, a couple of greater
yellowlegs, 8 b-b plovers, 6 snowys and 1 great egret.
