Lake Josephine looked more like the ocean than an inland lake yesterday because of the wind, so what birds there were were generally in the smaller ponds/lagoons off to the side. Of note was a pair of Ruddy ducks.
We also spotted:
Belted kingfisher
Red-winged blackbirds by the score
Northern shoveler
Ring-necked duck
Mallards
At Mantle Lake in Presque Isle were several pairs of Mallards and American black ducks.
At Collins Pond in Caribou were Ring-necked ducks and
Kudos to all birds who ignored the three little girls who shrieked loudly every time they spotted anything at all in the water!
