At 4 A.M. this morning, the weather was exactly the same as the previous several days in West Bath. In an effort to escape the stagnation, I split for the Western Mts. The sun first appeared as I was approaching Messalonskee. A 12-min stop yielded:
7 Black Terns
1 Am Bittern
2 PB Grebes
1 P Martin etc etc
Highlights of several stops off Long Falls Dam Rd included:
Canada Warblers at each of 4 stops/hikes
Bay-breasted Warbler - On Territory
Red Crossbills
Gray Jays
Indigo Bunting singing at intersection of George Cole Rd
Finally, at about 1 P.M., a singing Mourning Warbler plus a singing Canada Warbler at the Snowfluent Pools (Sugarloaf).
Plus the usual suspects. No fog, no humidity. Nice blast of Canadian Air most of the day.
