[Maine-birds] Saw-whet Owl bark-yelping in Richmond

There have been a large number of Saw-whet Owls migrating this fall with great capture rates by nocturnal owl banders.

Given the very quiet evening, I decided to played Saw-whet male territorial call for 10 minutes this evening and then shifted to a fall barking-yelp type sound.

One bird responded within a few minutes, so they're out there.

I got the recordings from the Cornell Lab, at the Macauley Library of Natural Sounds.  They've got a great cd of North American owl calls.

Best, Peter
