The highlight of a day at Schoodic Point and Petit Manan NWR was a Yellow-billed Cuckoo sitting on a stack of lobster traps in the tiny village of Pigeon Hill. One robust Peregrine Falcon passed overhead at Schoodic Point, then a second falcon, missing several primaries, passed over Blueberry Hill. A third Peregrine passed by in Pigeon Hill. MANY scoters were around today. All three species were present around Schoodic, and there were a ton of Surf Scoters off Petit Manan peninsula. Both grebe species were common today. Lots of gannets everywhere.
