[Maine-birds] LOY Peregrine, Sharpie and COGO Saco River, Downtown

As the sun is almost gone I figured I'd share these Last of Year sightings with you ;)

I saw the Peregrine prosecuting a flock of pigeons over Springs Island and Water Street in Saco this afternoon.  Then it landed on the post that supports the power lines in front of Deering Lumber on Elm St (Rt1) in Biddeford just passed the bridge from Saco onto Springs Island.

A flock of pigeons sat nervously on the power lines nearby.  Another raptor swooped in and at first I thought it was the second Peregrine, but it was actually a Sharp-Shinned Hawk.  The Peregrine sat around for about 15 minutes then took off after the Pigeons again.

This morning through dusk a single drake CoGo has been hanging out by my office.

A video of the CoGo (taken from my desk through my window) and the Peregrine, plus a short video of the Peregrine can be found in a shared folder on my skydrive.  These are not edited.  Feel free to view and share, but I'd appreciate attribution if sharing the files.  You can print them if you want they are uneditted 8 MegaPixel files so you should have no problem making a nice 8x10.

Have a HAPPY and a HEALTHY New Year!
