[Maine-birds] Red-shouldered Hawk- Waterville

While walking my dog at 9:20 a.m. I saw a red-shouldered hawk sitting quietly on a tree at the corner of Blue-Jay Way and Pleasant Hill St., Waterville. I was able to watch it closely through my bins for about 5 minutes from both front and back. It was a "chubby" bird abotu the size of a Cooper's Hawk, but with a relatively short tail. It had bright burnt-orange bars on it's front and continuing up onto the shoulder area. The back was brown with large white spots, almost looking like clumps of snow had recently fallen on it's back.

I did not see it fly, and when I returned later with my camera I could not relocate it.
