Got out to do a little birding today. Highlights include:
2 Northern Flickers (a male and female) in Biddeford Pool. My first of the year.
6 Yellow-rumped Warblers in Biddeford Pool. Most I've seen all year.
1 Snowy Owl, on Wood Island, Biddeford Pool. When I first arrived, it
wasn't in sight, but mysteriously appears about 20 minutes later on
it's favorite perch on the left chimney of the keepers house.
Also of note was a leucistic Red-necked Grebe at the mouth of the Saco
River, possibly the same one reported last November.
And a Red Fox, in Biddeford Pool, that sat out on the edge of the
marsh for quite a long while, blending into the spartina incredibly
well.
