[Maine-birds] Chuck-wills-widow in Cutler

Hi Folks,

While working in Cutler yesterday, I heard a chuck-wills-widow vocalize three times in late morning.  The calls came from a forested larch-spruce-gray birch stand.  This is the second year in a row that I heard Chuck-wills-widows in Washington County.

On July 13, 2012 I digitally recording one vocalizing from a bog in Indian Township using a directional microphone.  Otherwise, it was too far away to pick up by ear.  Last years bird gave several quick calls and was quiet the rest of the time (very odd in that I could hear a gray jay, palm warblers, blue-headed vireo, Lincoln's sparrow etc.).  It was strictly luck in that I was recording a point count next to the bog when it vocalized.
