Seeing the reference to the yellow warbler and cowbird in Doug's post prompted me to mention that I have had a male scarlet tanager with a single cowbird at my suet/grape jelly. Viewed through my own prejudice it seems the tanager is a reluctant dad or at the very least overwhelmed by this large "offspring"! It is the first time I have seen a tanager or any upper level nesting bird afflicted by cowbird parasitism. Sharon in West K.
