[Maine-birds] Re: American White Pelican, Long Lake, St Agatha (continues)

I have received reports this AM that the Am. White Pelican continues.  It was still roosting on the island at St Agatha on the north end of Long Lake.

Hello all,

I went up to Long Lake this afternoon to follow up on a tip from a Maine warden that a pelican was being seen on the north end of the lake in St. Agatha.

I arrived a little after 5 PM and sure enough the big bird was loafing on the tern nesting island just off shore on the south end of town.  It was in the company of about 30 DC Cormorants and about 50 Common Terns.

With the strong south wind and predicted rainy weather I suspect it may hang out for a day or two.  It was still there when I left at about 7:30 PM.  I spoke with a local resident who lives closest to the island and she promised to keep me updated if it stays.

I posted a few pics on my Flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/71911844@N04/

Good Birding!
