[Maine-birds] Fall migration begins

I've been so busy teaching at summer camp and tending veggie gardens I missed noticing when I ceased to hear my resident Blk Throated Green. Thanks to Rob for the lesson :-).

My grandsons and I drive by Chase's Pond in Cape Neddick every weekday. We watched several families of Canada Geese raise their young and grow so unbelievably rapidly that I can only guess which ones are the parents by a now slightly deeper color. Today is the second day we didn't see any geese grazing between the pond and the roads. I told my grandsons (3 and 3 and 1/2 yrs) that the babies would get flying lessons soon. Could they have left the pond for wider more open spaces? (I love it when I'm amazed by birds.)
